Create a project

Set up a project and tag it as Service or Product — the choice that powers your Resource Split.

Updated 16 June 2026

Projects are how you organise work in Kuvi. Each project is either Service (work you bill a client for) or Product (software you build and own). This single tag is what makes the Resource Split possible, so it matters.

Create one

  1. Open Projects and click New project.
  2. Give it a name and, optionally, a client.
  3. Choose its type:
    • Service — client-funded work.
    • Product — your own internal product.
  4. Add members who'll work on it.

Pick the type honestly — it decides which side of the Service-vs-Product split this project's effort and cost land on. You can change it later, but it's cleanest to set it right at the start.

Service vs Product, in practice

  • A client website rebuild → Service.
  • Your own SaaS that you sell → Product.
  • An internal tool you build for yourselves → Product.

Once a project exists, add and manage tasks on its board.
